You know what I like?

I like girl nights. Full of gab and banter and laughing. Where wine and beer run rampant but no one looks at you funny if you order a lemon drop martini or a pinneapple mojito. Yes, I loooove a good girls’ night. And I sure hope the snow does not get in the way of mine tonight!

I like chocolate. And coffee. And sometimes, I even sneak a little of both at the same time. Flash to: me in the kitchen adding a sprinkling of Swiss Miss to my Starbucks Blonde. By the way, have you tried the Blonde?! Sure is a step in a good direction for the SBucks!

Surprises. Especially because it means someone else has done all the planning. All you’re expected to do is show up, look pretty, and enjoy. I can’t wait for my Saturday Surprise!

Vacations. And Vegas. And ok, ok I’m not going to Vegas for vacation this time, but even “work” in Vegas is better than work in Chicago for a good, thirty degree warmer, break. Vegas, here I come!

5am runs along Lakeshore.

When there's still an hour 'til sunrise,

running towards the bright, city lights.

Another reason why I just love the city.

Thursdays.

They are my favorite day of the week. For no particular reason other than that

they encompass all the ancipation of the

forthcoming weekend,

without acutally being the weekend quite yet.

Egg Bagels.

Not plain, not wheat, not cinnamon raisin

(although I enjoy all those varieties as well).

With an Einstein's Vanilla Hazelnut Coffee.

It's an indulgence that's more than worth the $3.33.

A pastel wardrobe.

1. Beautiful and profound words from the pages of a breezy, summer read.

Sometimes it's when you least expect it, that you find the very thing you need to hear.

2. Family breakfast in a quaint house with a tree growing up through the center.

Seriously, I'm not kidding. A live tree growing up through the house.

3. The comeback of a little band (not) from my youth.

You may remember them. Hanson.

On repeat for a small dance party in my room.

4. A brother who will go ice skating with you and show you how to set up a tent.

Country thunder here I come.

Today I love late starts,

cold, refreshing morning runs,

and, of course, my cheerios and coffee.

Love stories acted out with every star in Hollywood. Take for instance, let’s say, Valentine’s Day. Seriously, so many wonderful people. And yes, I understand the cliche surrounding this Hallmark holiday. But, I actually choose to believe that people really want to celebrate LOVE.

Well-loved copies of classic novels. The way the pages brown and curl up at the edges, the smell of must, to know that you are joining the ranks of people that have come before you.

Curls. They say a girls hair should match her personality. I agree.

My Boys. Playlist of the day. Dave, check. Jimmy, check. Hootie, check.

Dress suits. I always love a man in a suit. There’s just something about that power suit that gets me. But now I want a suit of my own. I mean, I think it’s part of growing up. I’m not sure where I’ll wear it. But it’s ok if that comes second.

Catching up. Nothing like being productive and feeling on top of your game. World, bring it on.

Young imaginations. I watched my students fall in love with English. Well, maybe not love, but as close to love as second semester seniors can muster. It was indescribable. I could see their mental wheels turning, and it was one of the most beautiful, magical, wonderful things I have ever experienced. Insurmountable happiness.
