Your Task For Life.

That it will never come again is what makes life so sweet.

Emily Dickinson

***

A little inspiration and small dose of laughter to start your week off right.

I can’t believe it...my first week of student teaching is already over. And I couldn’t be more excited! My students are absolutely wonderful. Their enthusiasm and intelligence is completely astounding. I can just imagine what the future weeks will hold; already I have experienced several small epiphanies:

As an English teacher, I will always...

be the one that pulls fruity cheerios out of her brown bag at lunchtime

wear a watch, but constantly need to be reminded of the bell schedule

stand in the hallway during passing periods to talk to my students

look for excuses to have class parties (which typically involve treats)

make constant references to heavily syndicated television shows

want to read every single book that the library holds

love when my students visit me in my office during plan periods

Two is better than one.

Today I believe in chunky sweaters, knitted mittens, and earmuffs.

Today I believe in lunchtime camaraderie and Friday tea parties.

Today I believe that a touch of glitter goes a long way.

Today I believe in one is silver and the other gold.

Today I believe in pipeline dreams.

What do you believe today?

A little picker-upper to start your week off on the right footing...

I could not, at any age, be content to take my place by the fireside and simply look on. Life was meant to be lived. Curiosity must be kept alive. One must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life.

-Eleanor Roosevelt

Eight things you may not know about me...

1. I am a firm believer in the power of manicures. And yes, I am emotionally driven to getting them. Color seems to speak for me in a way that I cannot.

2. Topher Grace holds a piece of my heart. I think it all started with That 70’s show. I know the world is supposed to fall for Kelso’s good looks, but he’s charming and silly and wonderful. He went to USC, and I was significantly let down when I didn’t see him at the Rosebowl during my sophomore year. He will come to his sense one day, and whisk me off my feet to happily ever after.

3. When I was born, my dad wanted to name me Holly. He says this was a joke, but I secretly wish he had gotten his wish. At the risk of being called shallow, who could forget a Holly Woods?

4. Sunny days make me smile. Always.

5. Dave Matthews and Kenny Chesney are my dream team. A match made in musical heaven. I almost died the first time I heard I’m Alive. Ironic. One day my dream of seeing them together will come true.

6. I love the ellipses. Three dots. Simple, yet so linguistically powerful.

7. I have watched every episode of The Office. If he acts like Jim and dresses like Andy, I am his Pam. Thank God for heavily syndicatedl television.

8. My friends mean the world to me. Because, really, at the end of the day, who will stand by you if not your friends? I am proud of the relationships that I have made and held on to.

“If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.”

Winne the Pooh

The moment when a song captures your exact feelings is unspeakably beautiful. Thank you and congratulations Greta.

I don't have forever

but I live like I do

it feels like endless summer

the light shining through

all I have is borrowed

my skin and my bones

all I have is borrowed

but I wear these summer clothes

I don't have a reason

but I live like I do

sky could crash into the ground

and we'd like the view

the flood runs through the canyons of new york city

I know when the hurrican comes

it's coming for me

no one needs to save me

I'm already saved

no one needs to save me

I'm already saved

everything is just fine

everything is just fine

so long as I'm by your side

it's perfect in my mind

It’s OK if you believe in the power of

It’s OK if the most inspirational moment of your day ocurred while you were watching Grey’s.

I matter,

WE matter,

PEOPLE matter.

It’s OK if you care about what you know, as long as people know you Care.

Sometimes acting like a KID is EXACTLY what is CALLED FOR.

A little Sparkle will go a long way. So go ahead, be the Princess, be the wizard. I’ll talke my sailor Mickey.

Because, really, there’s a little kid inside each of us.

Let her Out. Let her shine. Let her capture hearts.
