TRUTH: In life, there are everyday obstacles.

TRUTH: Not all people will always agree, will always stand up for you, will always have your back.

TRUTH: Sometimes, the truth can hurt you.

Did you know? That, to the Jews, to say something three times demonstrated its perfection. Therefore, when we call God Holy, Holy, Holy (Holy meaning set apart). We are saying God is perfectly set-apart, with nothing and no one to compare Him to. This courtsey of Crazy Love's Francis Chan and Him.

Here's wishing everyone a happy second to last day of March

And Happy Birthday to a very special aunt!

Lest we forget...

Fate.

It's something holy, not superficial.
This I know.
Born from the Lord, received by your heart.
Pure and true.
Not on a pedastal or lost in a fairytale-land,
but given to all.
Freely it grows and stronger as it does.
Hold on.
Or it will hold you. In Love. Always.

There are troubles here.

Sometimes we don't want to see them,
Sometimes we see them and don't want to believe.
In these houses they're quiet and swept under the rug,
Outside they're exploited and live-streaming through our veins.

In the aftermath of 9-11, in the aftermath of a shattered heart,
we cry, we avoid, we grieve, we forgive.
We may not face it gracefully
-we needn't even try-
But though we will surely falter,
we will always persevere through these troubles.

What I know:

When you can't discern-trust Yourself.
There is a distinction to be made between first impressions and gut feelings.
In its truest form,
the latter is invested in hope and faith-rooted in love and deeper understanding.
So when you need to make a decision, think about not thinking.
Throw away your biases, your judgements, your prejudices,
and let your heart lead you.
I admit, it sounds cliche and, granted, way easier said than done.
But it's sound advice; it will not steer you wrong.

Wasup August
Where o where did this summer go?
I know time flies when you're having fun, but seriously?

I heard something the other day that really got me thinking.
We were talking about how to make art that people are moved by because they relate to it on some sort of deep level.
And one person said that you should never try to make art relatable...that just the act of making something that holds meaning to you, and that you can confide in will have the most profound impact on helping people identify with it.

So I hear this, and I stew on it.
And I actually really agree with this.
I mean, think about things that move you.
They probably move you because you relate to them-you've forged a connection to the artist (the painter, the writer, the friend...)

Basically, it boils down to this:
Don't worry about the effect as you're creating something. Just be true to yourself, and confide in knowing that your raw words have the power to move.

Naturally, this ties directly into POSTSECRET SUNDAY! Enjoy a couple of my favorites.

This is how I feel about my Cubbies sometimes.

It's true.

Replace fear of the unknown with curiosity: this is the age of miracles.

Decisions are hard; there's no other way to spin it.
Choices seem black and white, but consequences bleed into gray.
Look for light at the end of the tunnel
-and when you can't see it-
look harder, it's there.
There's a golden age coming around.

Good Morning, Good Afternoon, and Goodnight...

If something is twisted, untangle it.
Start with individual pieces; twirl the little parts around the larger ones.
Take hold of one piece, then wiggle weave wrap it through the loops.
Don't focus your entire energy on the overall,
and don't let the minor setbacks surmount your gain-instead, abandon them.
Know that you may have to make tangles along the way to 'untangled'.
Accept that we learn from all attempts.
So make mistakes. And learn from them. And keep working. Keep untangling.
You'll find that there's something kind of wonderful about being knotted and breaking free.

We may lose and we may win,

...but we will never be here again.

As we get older, lines muddle.
The area between right and wrong, good and bad turns to gray.
It takes a sound belief in yourself and what you stand for
to confidently step forward,
knowing that you are the best version of yourself.

Go.
Go confidently
in the direction of your dreams
Live the life you have imagined

Henry David Thoreau

Today I am reminded that it takes a great deal of confidence
(and the whimsy of a spoonful of sugar) to make strides in your life.
If you want something, sometimes all you need is to boldly go and get it.
Believe that you can, and you will.

“Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could;
some blunders and absurdities crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely
and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”

Thank you, Ralph Waldo Emerson, for that fine piece of wisdom.

I shall always believe in the quiet power

of the moment you realize someone gets you.

It’s a rarity- a thing to be cherished.

The instant you feel the shift from someone you talk to

when you run into each other at the coffee shop

to someone you call to grab a cup of coffee.

When the person knows the real you

and still wants to be with you.

Today, I understand the spark of a new friendship

and the knowledge to make it last.

I can’t believe it...my first week of student teaching is already over. And I couldn’t be more excited! My students are absolutely wonderful. Their enthusiasm and intelligence is completely astounding. I can just imagine what the future weeks will hold; already I have experienced several small epiphanies:

As an English teacher, I will always...

be the one that pulls fruity cheerios out of her brown bag at lunchtime

wear a watch, but constantly need to be reminded of the bell schedule

stand in the hallway during passing periods to talk to my students

look for excuses to have class parties (which typically involve treats)

make constant references to heavily syndicated television shows

want to read every single book that the library holds

love when my students visit me in my office during plan periods
